Covid-19 Policy

Effective today, the Innovate Marquette SmartZone and Invent@NMU office will be closed through Friday, February 4, 2022. During this time, the Innovate Marquette and Invent@NMU teams will be working remotely.
For the safety of our employees, clients, and guests, in-person meetings will be held by Appointment Only.
Guests will not be let in without a previously approved and scheduled appointment. See the “Guests” section below for more information.

  • Anyone experiencing symptoms or feeling ill is asked to stay home and refrain from in-person, in-office meetings.
  • For all meetings previously scheduled to take place during this time period, we will strive to meet in a virtual format or reschedule for a later date. The appropriate Innovate Marquette or Invent@NMU representative will contact you if there are any changes to your previously scheduled meeting.
  • All individuals outside of the organization MUST have an appointment to enter the building.
  • Upon arrival in the parking lot, guests will call the office (227-6253 or 227-6261) to let us know they have arrived. Guests will need to wait in their vehicle until invited to enter.
  • Upon entering the office, guests will get their temperature taken and be asked to sign the sign-in sheet.
  • Please see the additional sections below for more information regarding mask requirements and social distancing.

MASKS: Masks are REQUIRED regardless of vaccination status while in the building. Per NMU policy, we are now requiring all staff and visitors to wear N95, KN95, KF94 masks or to double mask a cloth mask with a surgical mask when those masks are not available. Exceptions are:

  • Lone person in a private office — if someone visits outside your office door and is socially distanced, vaccinated office dwellers may remain unmasked, but all visitors must be masked.
  • Lone person in the building.
  • If seated at a workstation working quietly with plexiglass and socially distanced.

SOCIAL DISTANCING: A distance of six (6) feet between yourself and others is REQUIRED regardless of vaccination status while in the building.

BUILDING OCCUPANCY: Maximum occupancy of the main floor in the building is ten (10), only if all can be either in a private office and/or socially distanced.
We will continue to monitor and make adjustments to our policy, as needed. Please check back here for updates or contact us if you have any questions.

Most importantly, we suggest that everyone be conscious of those around you and meet them at their comfort lev

For the near future at least, life will be very different from what we have been used to. We are fortunate at the Marquette SmartZone and Invent@NMU to have the personnel, tools, and flexibility to continue supporting our entrepreneurs, inventors, and innovators with services, knowledge and expertise.

We wish you and your families the best as we work through these challenging times.
