Experience Working at Invent@NMU

Position at Invent@NMU

Marketing Assistant

Memorable Experiences

One of the most inspiring aspects of Micah’s time at Invent@NMU was the constant presence of innovation. “Innovators are all around us,” he reflects. “The thrill of working at Invent@NMU is that someone with a great idea can walk through the door at any moment—and I witnessed many.” Watching a simple napkin sketch evolve into a working prototype, and eventually into a licensed, packaged, and market-ready product, was both exciting and deeply motivating. It was a front-row seat to the power of creativity, collaboration, and entrepreneurial drive.

Invent@NMU Impact

Real-world Client Experience

Micah had the privilege of working alongside the Invent@NMU student team to provide marketing and public relations support to the Caregiver Incentive Project (CIP) shortly after its founding by Eric and Dorothy Paad. CIP plays a crucial role in the Upper Peninsula, advocating for and supporting caregivers and those they care for, while shining a light on this often-overlooked issue. Micah’s work helped amplify the organization’s mission and raise awareness about the essential services they provide to the community.

Advice to Current NMU Students

Micah challenges current NMU students to step outside of their academic comfort zone by enrolling in at least one class that’s completely different from their major. “Try something new—whether it’s ceramics or scuba diving,” he advises. “Not only will you have a great time, but you’ll also learn to see the world from a fresh perspective.” Embracing new experiences, Micah believes, helps broaden your horizons and enriches both your personal and professional growth.
